Taking command is the foremost premise of the game and in doing so you take control of the whole battlefield and ultimately the war itself as you command vast numbers of infantry, tank battalions, heavy artillery and aircraft. The game features three unique fighting forces, U.S, German and Soviet armies and in doing so it offers a vast array of different playable units. The U.S army features 25 unit types, Germany 27 and the Soviets 24.
