How can I play the Xbox Series X|S version?

  1. Purchase and install the retail version of FINAL FANTASY XIV from the Microsoft Store.
  2. Launch FINAL FANTASY XIV.
  3. Log in with your Square Enix account.
    The options "I have a Square Enix account" and "I do not have a Square Enix account" will be displayed. Be sure to select the appropriate option suitable for your situation and follow the instructions on the screen to log in.
  4. Link your Xbox account to your Square Enix account.
    You cannot unlink them once linked. If you have multiple Square Enix accounts, be sure to log in using the Square Enix account you wish to play with before proceeding.
  5. The licence registration screen will appear. Follow the on-screen instructions to proceed.
  6. Press the start play button and enjoy FINAL FANTASY XIV.


  1. Purchase and install the retail version of FINAL FANTASY XIV from the Microsoft Store.
  2. Launch FINAL FANTASY XIV and log in using the Square Enix account you used on another platform.
  3. When the licence registration screen appears, select the service account you have used to play on another platform and follow the on-screen instructions to proceed.
    Do not select "Create new service account". If you do so, you will not be able to use your existing characters.
    If you have multiple service accounts, you will see the licences that have already been registered on the service account selection screen.
  4. Press the start play button and enjoy FINAL FANTASY XIV.


The full Xbox Series X|S version requires an active Xbox Game Pass (Core or Ultimate) plan in addition to an active subscription for FINAL FANTASY XIV Online to play.

However, the Free Trial version of the game does not require an active Xbox Game Pass (Core or Ultimate) plan to play.



Players with an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate plan may download the FINAL FANTASY XIV Online Starter Edition for free until Friday, 19 April 2024.

In order to claim this, visit the Microsoft Store page for FINAL FANTASY XIV Online Starter Edition with an account that currently has Xbox Game Pass Ultimate pass and the purchase will be free.

If you have a Game Pass Ultimate plan and the game does not show as free for you during the availability period listed below, please contact Microsoft support.

The Starter Edition available as an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate perk will also include the early purchase Bonus Items.

Purchases made on the Microsoft Store for the Starter Edition,* Complete Edition, or Complete Collector's Edition will include the following in-game Bonus Items until Friday, 19 April 2024:

  • Wind-up Palom Minion
  • Menphina earring (grants 30% EXP bonus up to level 80)

These items will be delivered in-game via the Moogle Delivery Service. Minions are vanity pets that do not have any effect on a player's attributes. The earring grants a 30% increase in EXP gained by defeating enemies when worn, equippable only by Disciples of War or Magic classes and jobs.

NOTE: Service Accounts that have already been granted these items via the Endwalker Pre-order Bonus Code will not be eligible to receive them again.
