You will need an active Xbox Game Pass (Core or Ultimate) plan and an active subscription for FINAL FANTASY XIV Online to play the game.

Note: The Free Trial version does not require an Xbox Game Pass (Core or Ultimate) plan to play.

A wireless controller is also required to play the game. Please see this page for further details on the system requirements for the Xbox Series X|S version.



If you are unable to download the game from the Microsoft Store or update the client, please try the following steps:

  1. Test the internet connection on your Xbox Series X|S
  2. Perform a test to check whether your Xbox Series X|S is properly connected to the network.
    Select Profile & system → Settings → General → Network settings.

  3. Perform a system update on your Xbox Series X|S
    Ensure your console is up to date.
    Select Profile & systems → Settings → System → Updates.
  1. Restart your Xbox Series X|S
    Shut down your Xbox Series X|S, remove the power cord for about 10 seconds and restart the system before attempting to download the data again.



If you encounter any difficulties installing the game, please try the following steps.

  1. Confirm that you have sufficient space on your hard drive
  2. Select Profile & system → Settings → System → Storage, and check whether you have sufficient space to install the game. Visit this page to see how much space is required for the installation.

  3. Perform a system update on your Xbox Series X|S
    Ensure your console is up to date.
    Select Profile & systems → Settings → System → Updates.



If you cannot start or update the game, or experience crashes or disconnections, please try the following suggestions:

  1. Confirm that you have sufficient space on your hard drive
  2. Select Profile & system → Settings → System → Storage, and check whether you have sufficient space to install the game. Visit this page to see how much space is required for the installation.

  3. Perform a system update on your Xbox Series X|S
    Ensure your console is up to date.
    Select Profile & systems → Settings → System → Updates.

  4. Restart network devices
  5. Turn off the power of your router and/or modem for 30 minutes to an hour.

    Unnecessary data cached on the equipment will be cleared, possibly allowing for smoother connection.

  6. Update firmware of network devices
  7. Update your firmware for your router/modem if an update is necessary. If the firmware is outdated, your equipment may not function properly, so please update the firmware before trying to update the game again.

    Refer to your device's help manual when updating firmware. Even if your firmware is up to date, reinstalling it may resolve the situation.

  8. Check security services of your Internet provider
  9. Security services may be included as part of your internet provider service plan. Please ensure that these security services permit online gaming.

  10. Remove routers
  11. Temporarily remove routers and/or hubs to diagnose the issue.

    This may change your connection to a broadband connection. Please consult with your provider for connection settings.

  12. Check router settings
  13. Check the security settings (such as SPI) on your router. Also, please forward the ports used for the game. The ports are listed below:

    UDP
    55296~55551

    TCP
    80, 8080, 443, 55296~55551

  14. Reinstall FINAL FANTASY XIV Online
  15. If the installed data has been corrupted, the issue may be resolved by reinstalling the game.

    If you continue to have issues with updating FINAL FANTASY XIV, please contact the Square Enix Support Centre with any error codes you may have received by clicking the "Additional Assistance" button at the bottom of the page.



If visual effects and graphics are not being rendered properly, it is possible that the installed data has been corrupted or there is an issue with the console. Please try these troubleshooting steps to see if they resolve the issue:

  1. Perform a system update on your Xbox Series X|S
    Ensure your console is up to date.
    Select Profile & systems → Settings → System → Updates.

  2. Remove peripheral devices to create a simpler environment for the game to run
  3. Remove any peripheral USB devices (gamepads, cameras, microphones, headsets, etc.) to create a more stable, simple environment for your console to run the game. Also consider inserting the devices to different USB ports or removing and reinserting them.

  4. Reinstall FINAL FANTASY XIV Online
  5. If the installed data has been corrupted, the issue may be resolved by reinstalling the game.

    If you continue to have graphical issues on FINAL FANTASY XIV, please contact the Square Enix Support Centre with any error codes you may have received by clicking the "Additional Assistance" button at the bottom of the page. 



Please contact Microsoft support if the accessories for the Xbox Series X|S are not working correctly.

  1. Perform a system update on your Xbox Series X|S
    Ensure your console is up to date.
    Select Profile & systems → Settings → System → Updates.

  2. Check various configuration settings for FINAL FANTASY XIV
  3. Change settings for the peripheral device to ensure it's working properly.

  4. Check the connection between the device and Xbox Series X|S
  5. If the issue is temporary, unplugging the device and restoring the connection may resolve the issue.

  6. Reinstall FINAL FANTASY XIV Online
  7. If the installed data has been corrupted, the issue may be resolved by reinstalling the game.

    If you continue to have issues with peripheral devices playing on FINAL FANTASY XIV, please contact the Square Enix Support Centre with any error codes you may have received by clicking the "Additional Assistance" button at the bottom of the page. 



If the in-game music or sound effects are not being played back properly, it is possible that the sound files have either been corrupted or that there is an issue with a sound-related peripheral device or the driver software. Please try these troubleshooting steps to see if they resolve the issue:

  1. Perform a system update on your Xbox Series X|S
    Ensure your console is up to date.
    Select Profile & systems → Settings → System → Updates.

  2. Check various configuration settings for FINAL FANTASY XIV
  3. Check to see if playback of any sounds has been turned off via the in-game menus.

  4. Check the connection between the audio output equipment (TV, speakers, receiver, etc.) and the Xbox Series X|S.
  5. If the issue is temporary, unplugging the device and restoring the connection may resolve the issue.

  6. Check the audio output settings
  7. Check your audio output settings by selecting Profile & system → Settings → General → Volume & audio output.

    The audio output settings for Final Fantasy XIV Online are as follows:
    • 2ch LPCM
    • 5.1ch LPCM
    • 5.1ch DTSDigital Surround
    • 5.1ch DolbyDigital

  8. Reinstall FINAL FANTASY XIV Online
  9. If the installed data has been corrupted, the issue may be resolved by reinstalling the game.

    If you continue to have sound issues on FINAL FANTASY XIV, please contact the Square Enix Support Centre with any error codes you may have received by clicking the "Additional Assistance" button at the bottom of the page. 



If you cannot input text in the Xbox Series X|S version, please try these steps:

  1. Check keyboard settings
    Check that your preferred keyboard layout is selected.
    Select Profile & systems → Settings → System → Language & location.

  2. Check whether the issue only occurs in-game
  3. For example, see if you can input text in the Microsoft Store or log-in fields. If you cannot input text in the home menu, it is possible that there is an issue with your console or peripherals.

  4. Remove the keyboard from your Xbox Series X|S and re-insert
  5. If input is malfunctioning temporarily, re-connecting the keyboard may resolve the issue.

  6. Insert the keyboard in a different port
  7. Insert the keyboard in a different USB port on your Xbox Series X|S to determine if there are issues with the USB port.

  8. Perform a system update on your Xbox Series X|S
    Ensure your console is up to date.
    Select Profile & systems → Settings → System → Updates.

    If you continue to have issues inputting text on FINAL FANTASY XIV, please contact the Square Enix Support Centre with any error codes you may have received by clicking the "Additional Assistance" button at the bottom of the page.



You may need to adjust various privacy settings to play on Xbox Series X|S. If the game doesn't start, please follow the steps below to make sure the privacy settings are set up correctly.

  1. Access the Home screen > Settings > Account > Privacy & online safety > Xbox privacy > View details & customize > Communication & multiplayer

  2. Make sure that your account permissions are configured as described below.
    • You can join multiplayer games: Allow
    • You can join cross-network play: Allow
    • Others can communicate with voice, text, or invites: Everybody
    • You can communicate outside of Xbox with voice & text: Everybody
  1. Access the Home screen > Settings > Account > Privacy & online safety > Xbox privacy > View details & customize > Game Content

  2. Make sure that your account permissions are configured as described below.
    • You can see and upload community creations: Everybody
